most of the lives get treated as if they’re worthless
it’s true all over the planet, including the United States
tornado struck Amazon warehouse in Edwardsville, Illinois
6 people died when the warehouse yielded to the tornado
happened on Friday night but company stayed mum
on Saturday afternoon, an Indiana employee wrote:
“I know it’s the weekend and Amazon was busy blasting Michael Strahan and other wealthy people into space but can we get any kind of statement about the ‘mass casualty incident’ in Illinois.” “I feel something could be said or a plan of action to review tornado and [severe] weather safety could be announced.” “We had tornado touch downs not far.”
Amazon blamed the victims for their own death, as usual – a total lie
no answer from Amazon
why the workers were not asked to stay home on the day of tornado
or were allowed to leave early
sociologist Nantina Vgontzas tweeted
“How many workers must die for Amazon to have a policy for extreme weather events?”
the answer: as many as Amazon can get way with
and as many as government permits
Amazon warehouse is owned by the world’s richest man Jeff Bezos
couldn’t he spend a few more bucks to make stronger warehouses?
no
the more money Bezos spends on workers’ safety
a little less money he’ll have for his filthy luxurious life
the last warning was issued at 6:36 pm
“Tornado Watches are in effect for western Kentucky, southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and southwest Indiana.”
workers in Mayfield Consumer Products factory were threatened:
9 workers died in the Mayfield candle factory
lack of economic security & government support makes workers insecure
which gives corporations full power over their workers
and their lives too
