Femen protesters expelled from Turkey for topless protest

Ukrainian feminist group FEMEN activists were protesting domestic violence against women in Turkey in front of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul on March 8, International Women’s Day.

Turkey’s Anatolia news agency reports four women from the Femen rights group were placed on a return flight to Kyiv on March 9, one day after they were detained by police for gathering topless in a popular tourist area in Istanbul and chanting slogans to protest domestic violence and acid attacks against women in Turkey.
