the matter had become serious

President Trump was put under White House arrest
and told to read out aloud to the nation
the already prepared written statement:
“My fellow Americans,
I want to inform my fellow countrymen that after pondering over this country’s and my future, I have decided I will better serve this country from outside the government than from within it.”
