Racism
When in January, President Barack Obama takes an oath for his second term as president, for many people that day will be like a 3rd 9/11. The day Obama took an oath in January 2009, some of the people didn’t turn on their TVs because for them it was a “second 9/11.” Perhaps, his skin color is 9/11ish.
…
First Donald Trump joined many Republicans who had been spreading doubts about Obama’s US citizenship.
Then he offered $5 million to a charity of Obama’s choice if he released his college records and passport application.
Now what? Probably he’ll demand to touch Obama to make sure that there really exist such a person as Obama–and it’s not some kind of a Muslim spirit.
7.1% and 7.9%
The official unemployment rate in the United States for October 2012 was 7.9%. The chances of Obama winning the election with such a high rate of unemployment was considered minimal, because any figure above 7.1% is considered non-conducive to the reelection of the incumbent president.
I never came across any of the pundits discussing the above statistics during the pre-election period ever questioning as to why we don’t give a damn about the 7.1% of the people who are out of work. Of course, in a capitalist economy, a certain percentage of unemployed people is always a good thing because it reduces the bargaining power of the working people as they could always be replaced with the unemployed people desperately looking for work.
Obama to meet Romney
You Tube (Read the transcript of Obama speech at NPR)
In his winning speech, Obama said that he’ll meet Mitt Romney (his Republican opponent), as a show of bipartisanship.
In the meeting, Obama should tell Romney that I’ve got some $5 million and you’ve got $255 million. You’re a sharp businessperson and I trust your business acumen. Let’s both invest $10 million in some business. For four years I’ll be a sleeping partner, but once my term is over, I’ll join you as an active partner. I’m sure we’ll earn enough money to live a decent life.
The extra $250 million, plus the other money sitting in Swiss and other foreign banks, you have, you can donate it to the US government to reduce the deficit. Like this, you’ll be setting a great example of patriotism. I’m sure, many other rich people like you will follow in your footsteps.
Any second-term hopes?
Hopes are many but the chances of getting fulfilled are not very promising because of Obama’s previous record. Still, one may hope, that Obama will do few things to leave a legacy and to offer a belated respect to his Nobel Peace Prize.
Obama should watch the video clips of his victory speech to see the hopes the blacks, the Latinos, and his other supporters had in their eyes. Most of the world supported his election, except Israel where only 1/3rd of the people supported him. The 2/3rd of Israelis were for Romney. Pakistan was another country, where only 11% of the population wanted to see Obama reelected (understandably, because of the US drone attacks), whereas Romney had 14% Pakistanis behind him. Most Pakistanis refused to participate in the polls.
Also, Obama should think about those tens of thousands of people, from his party and volunteers who worked day and night, with full dedication, to convince people to vote for him.
