The government on Monday decided to make public the income and wealth statements of ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers, and others in public service with similar status.

The government on Monday decided to make public the income and wealth statements of ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers, and others in public service with similar status every year in keeping with the ruling Awami League’s election manifesto.

The cabinet in its weekly meeting at the secretariat on the day, with prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, approved a proposal of the Cabinet Division in this regard.

The decision came two and a half years after the AL-led alliance government had taken over in January 2009.

The Awami League’s election manifesto, titled ‘A charter for change’, said wealth statements and sources of income of the prime minister, cabinet members, parliament members, and their families would be made public every year.
