Reflections on ‘the 1975 emergency’ and democracy at a human rights event in Delhi – Burmese activists honoured

UCL (Delhi), JAN HASTAKSHEP, CITIZENS FOR DEMOCRACY, CHAMPA – The Amiya & B.G.Rao Foundation, THE INDIAN RADICAL HUMANIST ASSOCIATION organised a public meeting on ‘The Emergency – Right to dissent and democratic processes today’ at the Gandhi Peace foundation on the 25th of June 2011. Speakers included Kuldip Nayar, B.G.Verghese, Nandita Haksar, Dr. Aparna among others. Recently released, 31 Burmese political activists who spent the past 13 years in a Indian Jail were welcomed by the organisers.
