MALCOLM HUTCHESON PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION (Announcement)

GANDA NALA
A Short History of Water in the Punjab
by Malcolm Hutcheson
at Zahoor ul Akhlaq Gallery
National College of Arts

Opening on Thursday 8th April from 6pm until 9pm
Exhibition continues until 20th April

This is how Malcolm Hutcheson explains his work:

I have been working on two projects in the last three years, (the second ‘Angelcopiers’ will be shown at Rhotas Gallery on the 22nd of April, just after this show comes down). ‘Ganda Nala’ is a large show of 45 photographs which started when I watched a man come out of a drain near Taxali gate. Forget cricketers, I felt that this man must be the hero of our times, for he risks his health and his life doing something that I cannot imagine doing myself, for money that barely covers the rent. It struck me as a direct insight into the nature of modern society and through this one idea, Ganda Nala came into being.

‘Angelcopiers’ which is a more intimate show. Both exhibits show something about the way I see the world but also, I hope, may show a little about the city I love and the the people within that city who I admire.

I hope that you can make it to the opening or, if not, you may find some time in the next few weeks to visit the galleries and see the work.
