in the past, North Charleston had
plantations or slave camps
places where slaves worked
though slavery has been abolished long ago
the master mentality is still visible
for many whites
blacks are still subhumans
this is compounded by media representation of blacks
and the power of the racist officers
a black person is a dangerous entity
whether he/she is in the front
or in the back
on the right
or on the left
Walter Scott is running with his back to the policeman
Scott is black and so is to be considered a dangerous person
white policeman Michael Slager fired 8 shots
and Scott bade farewell to this world
someone video recorded the incident
thus the world knows the facts
otherwise, the story would have been different
the news media would have been crowded with racists
defending officer Slager
and the media would have projected itself as impartial
presenting “both sides of the story”
