Dear Friends,
In past, I have sent you emails detailing the damages and devastation of those girls who are victims of unislamic practice of Khatna or FGM. Yesterday (May 9, 2013), a highly regarded program PBS News hour, telecast a story regarding a successful movement against Khatna or FGM, in an African Muslim country Senegal. Please click the following link and watch this 8-minute eye-opening clip. In India, practice of Female Genital Mutilation called FGM or Khatna, is practiced among very few Muslim groups. Among them, almost 100% of Bohra sect practice this life-ruining procedure. Their ancestors had picked up this practice from African tribes during rule of Fatimid caliphs of Egypt. Quran doesn’t mention this practice nor it is part of Farizat or Islamic obligations. Bohra leaders should take a chapter from West African Nation Senegal and stop this life-destroying practice of putting little girls through the cruel procedure of Khatna.
