Our little planet called Earth is a silent spectator to tons of happenings taking place every day. And no doubt some of them are also full of irony. But sometimes certain occasions are filled with such profound irony that they just would not escape your attention. One such event took place recently, that is, on 25th April. The current US President Barack Obama and four former presidents met in Dallas, Texas, to dedicate a newly built Bush Presidential Library and Museum to George W. Bush. It is the most expensive of all the presidential libraries, built at the cost of $250 million. Looking at the pictures of the library, one couldn’t help noticing that it lacks the aesthetic beauty of the exterior one can see in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.
It is an irony that during their term(s), these presidents don’t do much to promote education, not counting the political rhetoric and the photo ops related to education, and instead waste the national resources and taxpayers’ money on unnecessary and dangerous projects to control the population within the US and the independent leaders outside. However, when they leave office, they make sure that they have collected enough corporate and other money to build a library and museum named after them.
Money’s magic
The money collected for these kinds of projects are in lieu of favors done. But sometimes, it can be for a pardon granted too. President Bill Clinton (!993-2001) granted a pardon to Marc Rich. In 1983, Rich was on the FBI’s wanted list for escaping this country after committing the biggest tax evasion. His wife Denise Rich became friendly with Clinton after donating huge amounts, including $450,000 to William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park.
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog,
the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,
and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen,
all of them clothed with all sorts of armour,
even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
Gomer, and all his bands;
the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.
The above Biblical threat from God against Gog was the one George W. Bush used with French President Jacques Chirac to bring him on board the bandwagon for the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Bush told him that in the Middle East he saw “Gog and Magog at work.” Later Chirac confirmed this Gog/Magog story: Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East…. The biblical prophecies are being fulfilled…. This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people’s enemies before a New Age begins.”
Now this Christian fundamentalist has a library and museum named after him! This is called a profound irony.
Good note
This mass murderer, George W. Bush, now that he is out of the killing business-because he is out of power and can’t indulge in wars, is showing some positive signs; he has started painting landscapes, pets, etc. and is taking painting lessons once a week. Just a reminder: even Adolf Hitler used to paint.
