Good People go to Hell, Saved People go to Heaven explores Evangelical Christian belief and culture against the backdrop of hurricanes, coastal devastation and apocalyptic fear. The film follows a cross-carrying fundamentalist preacher, a fervent youth choir leader, an agenda-filled megachurch pastor, and a panoply of urban and rural born-again Christians. Unnervingly intimate, the film follows its subjects as they rebuild their lives and their communities along the American Gulf Coast in the months and years after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The result is a film of stunning candor and fresh insight into the complex and controversial world of Evangelical belief.
