I NEVER met Shobhana Bhartia although I worked for the Hindustan Times for nearly 10 years. She is the daughter of the late K.K. Birla who, to borrow an expression of Khushwant Singh, was my “anna
data” (provider of food) for one and a half decades. I reached the
HT via The Searchlight, whose first editor was the first President
of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad, which many in the Birla Group did not even know was a Birla concern.
