Welcome to Sweden’s major international performance art festival Live Action which will celebrate its 7th consecutive year in Gothenburg from May 24-27 2012. Since we started in 2006 we have had the pleasure to receive 128 artists from 31 countries presenting more than 260 works.
Although these figures are speaking for themselves, it is just numbers. Figures that can not be translated into experiences, emotions, thoughts, human enrichment, in a quality assessment of the cultural experience capital which Live Action have generated since its existence in Gothenburg and the West of Sweden or in the nation as such.
To celebrate this 7th year we have made a major upgrade of LA through the creation of the pilotproject iLAS, or international Live Action Studies to which you can register and find more information on this website.
We are also quite pleased with LA 7’s attractive program with artists working on that human scale which is so characteristic of it. And although human scale is not the festival theme this year, it permeates the festival in all its aspects, in its social relations, in its organising, and of course in the artists work. It surely is a way of being to which Live Action is attached.
This years edition have la France as its country of honour and showcases 5 French artists of different gender, origin and generation. This year of presidential election have triggered LA 7’s curatorial theme in this 50th year since the death of Frantz Fanon to one of Courage in the Context of Crisis.
