Whether or not Gujarat’s Chief Minister Narendra Modi had a liaison or liaisons with a woman or women is fundamentally UNimportant: although, if these allegations are true, he is shown more clearly to be a hypocrite. There was little doubt about that when his recent “fast”, which brought to mind Gandhian notions of simplicity, atonement and purification, was orchestrated as a grand spectacle. Modi sees himself as an emperor, and indeed his followers so regard him: and history tells us that an emperor has a large harem overflowing with nubile females as part of his glory.
