Deep in the Pacific, the island nations of Kiribati, Tokelau, and Tuvalu are among the first to feel the direct effects of climate change as they submerge under rising sea levels. In response, island dancers and musicians illuminate their plight and make a personal appeal for global action through the U.S. tour of Water is Rising.
UCLA is proud to host the launch of this tour, and invites you to a unique exchange of ideas and artistic expression among islanders, climate change experts, and political leaders. Science and Art in a Climate of Change: A Dialogue of Nations will explore the very real threats to Pacific islands, the “canaries in the coal mine” of climate change.
