Nepal ‘concerned’ over women‚ migrant workers

Minister for Law and Justice Prabhu Sah has said that the proposals tabled for safeguarding the women, children and migrant workers is crucial in the context of Nepal.

Minister Sah made such remark while addressing the 50th annual convention of the Asian African Legal Consultative Organisation (AALCO) held in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, from June 26 to July 1.

He hailed the role played by the Organisation on different aspects of the international law.

Minister Sah stressed on the need for effective bilateral, regional coordination especially among the countries of origin, transit and destination to resolve the problem of trafficking in women and children as this has posed a serious threat to humanity, human rights and development.

Stating trafficking of immigrant workers is a serious challenge for international migration, he urged all the countries to work for resolving this problem by ratifying the UN convention on migrant workers and their family members.
