Muslims face Mecca
while praying
most Muslim leaders face Riyadh
while praying
most Muslim leaders, including the Saudi King
(and many non-Muslim leaders)
face Washington DC
while ruling
Egyptians want the tyrant to leave now
but he wants to stay till September
so they seek Obama’s help
not everyone hates Hosni Mubarak
the US loves him
so do Saudi Arabia, Britain, Jordan, …
he is Israel’s pet policeman
who helps her keep Palestinians
imprisoned in Gaza Strip
most Egyptians want Mubarak to leave
but instead, he has sent his thugs to create chaos
and thus prolong his stay
Obama is in big trouble
the entire world is watching
the US is a “democracy”
it constantly preaches the democracy lessons
to the rest of the world
if the Egyptian people’s demand is met
then it would encourage
the Saudis, Kuwaitis, and others to rise
turning the Middle East into an inferno
it will disrupt the oil supply
and the prices of everything will go up
the cheap Chinese goods in the US
will become not so cheap
and will hurt the people in the US
who have already suffered enough
if it happens
then the US will be in turmoil
and people will demand the true democracy
Obama’s dilemma:
it is too late for inaction
so the question is
how to prod Mubarak to go into exile
without causing a domino effect in the region?
there is no simple answer
or any wise prediction
but then there is also no point of return
Obama needs to cross the Rubicon
