Pakistani actress/model Veena Malik fights back (in Hindi/Urdu)

Recently when a Pakistani actress, Veena Malik, appeared on an Indian reality TV show, “Bigg Boss,” it created a huge furor. The custodians of morality, some Islamic clerics, the male chauvinist pigs, and the India haters (sometimes all one and the same person) have attacked her viciously. (cont. below)

In this interview, she is attacked not only by the Islamic scholar (Mufti Abdul Kawi), but the host of the show is abusive towards her, too. She was able to hold her ground most of the time that nobody on the show, including Pamela Anderson, was representing their individual country or religion; and hence she did not really malign Pakistan or Islam. But there were times when she was drawn into the religious trap, as in: “I am a Muslim woman, and I know my limits.” She should have avoided this because it limits her independence to argue freely. It was great to see Malik fight back. Pakistan needs more Veena Maliks and Sherry Rehmans, not Zardaris and Kayanis. Ed.
