Uganda: 2010 reads like a diary of just another sad year

Looking back at 2009, it may be concluded that Uganda is moving round in a distressing circle. In 2010, we continued importing cheap Chinese consumer goods and produced almost nothing of value to export.

Then we dutifully brought in used Japanese cars, exponentially increasing the nightmare of the gridlock and accidents on the potholed roads. These roads famously prompted the staging of a pothole exhibition to the chagrin of the roads minister.

Buildings came up fast, though some snuffed out the lives of construction workers as sites crumbled on them under the superintendence of questionable engineering.
