South Asian Network report: From Displacement to Internment

by ASAD ZAIDI

Dear Friends:

I urge you to read a report, prepared by the Los Angeles based South Asian Network, From Displacement to Internment, a history of your community, friends and families effected by the brutal policies of those who most of us support!

Next time when you hear about your community leaders visiting White House or partying, iftaring and hosting government officials and politicians lavishly at their homes and ritzy hotels, tell them about this report.

You will not see this on your local community TV channel – I urge you to challenge your media favorites to see this reality as most of them have their heads buried in sand, like ostriches! As more and more acts and policies are planned and formulated more of us will be effected unless we all wake up one day and do something about it.

Please circulate the following report widely and have great holidays. May be send some samosas or sweets to those who are in “internment camps” or now a days called “immigration holding cells”

Best Wishes for New Years. I hope the New Year will bring more solidarity amongst us!

An extract from South Asian Network:

Told by South Asian immigrants in their own words, these stories seek to present a more holistic account of daily-lived experiences of the most vulnerable community members, low-income workers, undocumented immigrants, survivors of domestic violence, targets of Police abuse and many others whose “American Dream” have turned into an “American Nightmare.”
