Principal Rinzin Wangmo of Yonphula lower secondary school in Trashigang is the first Bhutanese educator to win the UNESCO award for best practices in education for international understanding (EIU).
The 38-year old principal is the UNESCO and nature club coordinator in her school, which she conducts in line with the principles of gross national happiness. “I’ll continue to do my bit towards saving the mother earth and teach the same to my students,” she said. “I’m happy that my small work has been acknowledged,” she said.
