Zaid Hamid: The “Glenn Beck of Pakistan”

MANAN AHMED talks to Chicago Public Radio

The United States isn’t the only country to give major media time to conservative pundits like Glenn Beck. Pakistan has its own batch of blowhards and televangelists who crowd the airwaves and news pages with conspiracy theories.

Chief among them is the fez-wearing Zaid Hamid. Hamid is featured on a popular morning show in Pakistan. To find out more, I called up Pakistan historian and former Chicagoan Manan Ahmed. He also writes the Chapatti Mystery blog and currently teaches at the Free University in Berlin.
