Justice for Gaza petition: An appeal from AVAAZ

The world is reeling from Israel’s deadly assault on a flotilla of aid ships trying to reach Gaza. It’s time for a full investigation to begin — and for the siege of Gaza to end. Click to sign the worldwide petition, then forward this message:

Sign the Petition

Israel, like any other state, has the right to self-defense, but this was an outrageous use of lethal force to defend an outrageous and lethal policy — Israel’s blockade of Gaza, where two thirds of families don’t know where they’ll find their next meal.

The UN, EU, and nearly every other government and multilateral organization have called on Israel to lift the blockade and, now, launch a full investigation of the flotilla raid. But without massive pressure from their citizens, world leaders might limit their response to mere words — as they have so many times before.

Let’s make the world’s outcry too loud to ignore. Sign the petition for an independent investigation into the raid, accountability for those responsible, and an immediate end to the blockade in Gaza.

Freedom rider: America kills peace

by MARGARET KIMBERLEY

Nothing scares the United States more than the possibility that peace might break out. Turkey and Brazil committed an unforgiveable sin, by finding a way to resolve questions about Iran’s nuclear fuel stocks. The U.S. pushed the agreement aside, preferring to move closer to war – as if that is Washington’s desired result.

Let it all hang out—in Urdu!

by C. M. NAIM

The same day Dr. Khan also published a column in Urdu, in the Urdu journal Jang, with the title: “28 May – Kis Bat ki Khushi?” (“28 May – Happy about what?”). Both journals are published by the Jang Group, which also owns and runs four television channels. The Urdu column was most likely written first—Dr. Khan writes Urdu felicitously—and then translated by Dr. Khan or someone else into English. In either case, the two were carefully crafted to cater to distinctly separate readerships.

Domestic violence, it touches us all

by JEFF SIDDIQUI

I attended a fundraising event for Chaya, an organization that is dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence become successful survivors. Chaya also helps families come to a better understanding of how to continue with a successful model that does not permit physical, or emotional abuse in a family. I also has programs that help educate children to grow up with a feeling of respect for each other.

US law officially proclaims Memorial Day “as a day of prayer for permanent peace.”

Number One in War

No doubt, the USA is number one in war. This coming year the US will spend 708 billion dollars on war and another $125 billion for Veterans Affairs – over $830 billion. In a distant second place is China which spent about $84 billion on its military in 2008.

Gazans: Prepare for a shower

by B. R. GOWANI

“Israeli forces approach one of six ships bound for Gaza in the Mediterranean Sea.” PHOTO/Reuters/3News

Invade
Conquer
Occupy
Kill
Torture
Malign
Encircle
Blockade

The world protests
“F**k the world”

The only person who can stop these
Israeli Nazis plays the time game:
Says he’s collecting the data
Then he fed the data to a computer named
AIPAC (American Israeli Political Action Committee)
A warning shows up on the monitor:
SECOND TERM JEOPARDY!

So:
The UN resolution is toned down

As usual New York Times does
Offers excuses::
“The rift between Israel and Turkey
makes it difficult for the White House
to make progress on Iran’s nuclear program
and peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.”

Gaza is under Israeli blockade
People are trying to bring critical supplies.
As Israel kills many of them,
NYT is worried about …
Iran’s non-existent nuclear weapons!

Israeli leaders are acting like Nazis
New York Times’ propaganda resembles Goebblels’
What is left now?

You don’t have to gather Gazans
Gaza is a chamber
Just make an announcement:
“Gazans: Get ready for a shower”
Then drop the Zyclon B …
